I'm probably as cynical as Little Finger, but season 7 and 8 thus far is nothing like the setup of all the previous seasons where happy endings don't exist and stone hearted brutality is the reality.

So far it's all fan service and no real politicking.

I agree with you. I would say starting from season 5, the series begin losing it's intrigue and becoming more like fan-fiction. Which coincides with the TV storyline catching up to the book storyline, so you can kinda see the quality of story-writing changing after that.

The dialog also gone down hill. Instead of intelligent characters scheming and backstabbing, it's all about oath and fealty and good guys getting together to defeat mindless zombie hordes now. *yawn*

At least bring back zombie Hordor.
