If they're true fans, then they should stick with the spirit of the books and cheap sentimentality doesn't exist and shock value is earned and subverting expectations means they really will kill the major characters instead of always wearing plot armor.

That's so true, in earlier seasons characters died as a result of their actions and mistakes. They played the game poorly and they died. The NK line was built up as this ultimate threat and he kinda of died too quickly. Now some would argue that his death was because he became too cocky and that was his mistake, which is fair enough.I feel like too many main characters survived and unless they really pull some interesting stuff with Cersei, this should be an easy win for Jon/Dany. Maybe all that's left is a conflict between them for the throne, but Jon's character would most likely just give up his claim to Dany.

I wish the last 2 remaining books will be completed & published in a close future, so that we can compare carefully.
Though, as a slow reader, I guess I will have enough time to finish reading all the ones already published.
What is agree is that the TV series is being rushed since season 6. Things are going on really fast. Yet, it's still the best show ever made. Otherwise, none of you would watch it I presume.
And anyone can still die in this show.
