Thanks for suggesting that site. I'm pretty open-minded, more so, I believe, than most people. Allow me to digress, but it's not that I don't read mainstream media, and things like this, but rather that I do read mainstream media from time to time and that I have a difficult time trusting what it is I have just read because it's all the same, for the most part, and there are so many things left out. Imagine for one moment what's not being told. There's always more to a story, no matter how small or insignificant, that you're not being told about in mainstream media. And then there are things that are just flat-out lies, and even sneakier: lies hidden amongst truth. So what I like to do is get ALL the facts, or stories, or whatever, from every possible angle... sift through them... and make up my own mind as to what the truth is. I've always been a skeptic about where and how I collect my information. That's why I believe that the internet is a powerful tool and that the freedoms that we have on the internet must be fiercely protected. Freedom of information.

Im not how I feel about this. I think one hand it could be used to help people, but it is something that I wouldn't personally do. I don't like it, but if I had a loved one who could only be saved from a chimeric liver I'm not sure how I'd feel.

But tian, why do you hate science? We're not all bad.

Scientists rule this world. And look at it. It is sick, corrupted and full of hate. Yes, the majority of scientists are bad.

The problem is we see things from a different perspective. They see opportunity to improve, we see it as going too far.....and like someone else there said, until we are affected by the lack of this improvement via cures and such---than we change our minds.

Scientists in my opinion make the theories ,but we as others are responsible for how we perceive and use them.
I personally don't like to think that all I am just just chemicals and science instead of a "being" with my own mind---I realize chemicals are a part of me, but to live thinking you are chemicals ruins your sense of living.

in a sense, we are all mixed to some degree. the critical part is if we can do it "right" at the "right" time.

if you believe in what some religions, mythologies or even evolution said, god(s) or nature himself/themselves/itself has/have been constantly experimenting about mixing god(s) with humans or other species to start with.

do u believe that god(s) or nature did a good job up to today?

Very well said. Anything has the potential to be used badly. Think of the atomic bomb. It's all how we use it.

In the end it I perspective. I think that I really have the desire tO help people, and thus I work for the immunology department. When I graduate, I want to go into genetic therapy, also to help people.

Wonder when they start cloning people to have "spare organs", body parts, blood or stem cells whenever they need it.....

Sort of makes me think about the movie "The Island" with Scarlett Johansson and Ewan McGregor....

Mutations caused by evolution is a natural thing and doesn't happen over night.
Experimenting on such levels - makes me wonder how far humans are willing to go. And it worries me a lot....

i agree with everything you've said until the boldened part. to live life to the fullest you must understand and know all your capabilities and limitations. but i've actually talked about my perception of life in response to another post you've made in the past. i won't get into it again.

Wonder when they start cloning people to have "spare organs", body parts, blood or stem cells whenever they need it.....

everyone interested in this thread should check out the documentary "Animal Farm", not based on the book by any means but actually they don't clone human beings to harvest the parts, rather they are now able to grow individual body parts without having to create the whole thing. the documentary is rather informative and i invite all of you to watch it. i'm not sure where it is on the internet, but it was from BBC i believe, so if you are to google it later, check it out~ they definitely cover a lot of what is being discussed in this thread.

[edit] i found a blog that talks about the aforementioned documentary.

bioethicsbytes.wordp...farm-episode-1/

if anyone is interested in reading about the three part documentary before watching it.

and midnight latte; which field to you work in if you don't mind me asking? i have some friends in bio engineering and are telling me some neat stuff~

lol once again a brilliant comment from a brilliant man. please explain how scientists are churning out all the hate and sickness in this world. are you sure it's the scientists' fault that there are rapists and murderers around? and what has made you form such (well read *cough*) thoughts?
