Why do people say looks don't matter?

Looks only matter to a certain degree. For simplicity's sake, let's rate physical attractiveness on a scale from 1 to 10. Does it really matter then if the girl you are dating/marrying is a 7 or 9 in looks?

Don't look like a troll, don't dress like a hobo and don't be obese. These are simple prerequisites every guy or girl with options should be able to agree on. But with that being said, it's the personality that's going to make or break a relationship.

Besides, an upbeat, charismatic personality could easily turn up the attractiveness of a person a few notches.

because they don't want to look demanding, because they don't want to look shallow, because they don't want you to feel bad, but the biggest reason is: because they're lying.

but after the looks you need personality to stay in love or love someone.
it can't last only with looks.

and i saw in another thread people that complain that pretty pics >>> than cool profile information.
i think they are hypocrites. my advise to those who complain is why don't you talk to someone just because he/she has cool profile without liking his/her pic. then i really think you would not have a problem

It's pretty ironic though, that for someone who seems to value looks so much you don't provide us with a picture of your own face in your profile.

hm, well, this beauty in the eye of beholder thing has some merit but the truth is beauty is universal. If you ask people most people would agree on who is ugly and who's pretty.

i think however, if u love someone, often u like the way they look even if u know they are "ugly."

the difference is when i joined the site i never complained :"oh people don't talk to me because i am ugly." i wouldn't care. that's why i think they are hypocrites.
i used to not even have a pic.and then i wouldn't get mad if people with pics don't answer.duh of course why would they answer.i would prefer to talk to someone like me.

and i explained when i say i care about looks . it doesn't mean i care who is the prettiest/hottest guy. i care about some characterists that i personally like.


(also even if i don't have the looks jossie that doesn't mean i shouldn't care about looks. i just shouldn't complain why the hottest guy won't answer like other people complained.that was my point)

Hahaha. Wow. Kay. So, this thread is funny in a way. Your opening post to this thread was about sex, basically. Sure, I suppose looks could be important, to an extent. But if thats what is most important to you... Say you marry a girl because she's beautiful. But her personality is whack. Years from now, her looks will fade, and her personality is still s***. Same for girls. Marry a guy for his looks, but there isn't anything going on ustairs? Does that seriously work for you?

I'm not going to lie, I like attractive men. Hell, every straight woman and gay man loves looking at hot guys.And vice-versa. However, looking and living with them are two different scenerios. Now, there are attractive people who also have great personalities, don't get me wrong. I'm just ..i'm probably talking in circles again, but!!! I'm sure you get my drift.
