Why do people say looks don't matter?

I think we have the two things mixed up here...

Looks does matter a lot in life. But beauty don't...

Handsome or beautiful are just our physical appearances. But we can still choose to look tidy and neat and respectful or we can dress up like an old man and disrespect other people....

Whether someone is beautiful or not doesn't matter me much but we all have the ability to appear as a respectful person....It's not that hard...

I refuse to respect anyone who dresses up like a gangster and always being an asshole on the street...it pisses me off sometime -_-.....

It matters!

if anybody can build a perfect man or woman, they'll have it a certain way for sure.

Looks matter.

The first impression you get from a person is their looks so it does matter.

Until we rid ourselves of or reptilian brains.

lol looks do matter and if someone tells you they dont then they are lieing...come on that why you add connections of this site cause you think they are cute right? but personalty also matter too.

This is a very true and honest answer....

And im not surprised to see some ugly girl in here with not a single friend or connection because people do pick...

But please...don't let this get to you...Even if we are born ugly we can still work hard to improve ourselves...

Daily exercise, dresses up nicely, learn some manner and learn to treat people right...These kind of people can be a lot more respectful than any models in this world...

I totally agree, people who say that are trying to make you feel better but it doesn't make it true. It really is a balance of looks and personality that makes a person perfect for you.

Another reason is, it isn't fair. People can't choose how they look like, they're just born that way. I don't like unfairness, so at least, I try to be fair to other people.

it matters, although it's not the only thing matters. i just don't believe people would date someone they think 'very unattractive', if not for other particular reasons.
