You sound like another American who likes to blow things out of proportion just because you can't deal with the fact a Korean is enjoying some success. I mean, there are literally dozens of crappy rap, country, pop artists.. you name it. Some even twice the size of Psy and talk nothing more than guns, smacking asses, titties, spending time in jail etc. Seriously, you can't be more superficial trying to judge Psy because he isn't tall, muscular, attractive. I don't even consider him a rap artist, so why try to compare him to your stereotypical black rap artist.
It might do your soul some good trying to find your own individuality, than trying to be like your black rap idol cuz lets face it, you just don't have the genes like themYou are asian, be proud of who you are and don't try to put on a fake show by trying to be someone else
Dude, I'm not a white guy lol. I'm not jealous of his success, I even said I like his music, but he uses tired stereotypes for his success. I know there are blacks who do it, like I said there are very few recognizable asians in the U.S.
and what is your idea of a tired stereotype? Are you telling me 80% of the Koreans men don't look anything like him? Are they all more like Bi-Rain or some other Kpop artist? xD

The video is most viewed in the U.S. There are far more recognizable negative stereotypes of asian men in the U.S. than positive, like Long Duk Dong, Mr. Yunioshi, William Hung, Ken Jeong etc etc. Positive stereotypes in the U.S. of asian men would be Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Rain, etc etc but most non Asian Americans are familiar with mostly Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan, and Bruce Lee has been dead for almost 40 years.

Also I don't understand your logic.. because the video is most viewed in the us, that must mean that there are more negative than positive stereotypes. Right? ;]

No, but for some reason, most of the youtube views have been from the U.S. I'm not saying that's bad, that's great he's become successful with American audiences but, most non asian Americans view asians particularily the men as being either goofy, nerdy, and unsexy, there are exceptions like Rain and Ken Watannabe, but those are very few compared to the overwelming recognizable negative stereotypes about asian men. Also, asian women in the U.S. are viewed as sex objects just like in the video. Again, I'm not saying other rappers don't do this or that I'm jealous (not at all), I'm just saying there are very very limited positive images that non Asian Americans know about Asian culture and it's people, which is frustrating. There are Asian-American actors like Kal Penn, John Cho, Steve Yeun and even comedians like Bobby Lee and Margaret Cho are trying to send a message about the positives of Asians, and videos like this doesn't really help.

No it doesn't matter lol, of course not. I'm just saying most non asians view asians as being what they know whether it's from pop culture or whatever, and this video just happenes to be very popular in the U.S...sort of reminds me of William Hung getting popular for being goofy.

Like I mentioned in my earlier post, there's nothing wrong with being passionate, I think it's great that he's enjoying what he does, but there have been so many negative images of Asian men (not so much for Asian women) in the U.S. And since there are very few recognizable Asians in the U.S. it will also remind you of doesn't he remind you of so and so? Like Ken Jeong or William Hung. They've both made music videos of being goofy, being unflattering, and both made ton of money. I'm not saying that's bad but that's what most Americans will be familiar with (considering most youtube views of gangnam style are from the U.S.).
