Nothing against Psy, he's talented and deserves praise.

However, after hearing Gangnam Style play on our radio stations (not online radio), hearing people blast it from their cars, watch people on YouTube (not Koreans) create Zumba routines to it, hear about Psy getting invited to perform at some White House Christmas celebration, and after about 213887453924 parodies... seriously the world is beating a dead horse. Let's just put this song in the coffin and forget about it, pleeeeease. It was never that funny and if people really think it is that funny then they are too easily amused.

Gangnam Style is just humor. He even said, "Dress classy but dance cheesy."

Take it for what it is. A humorous song/music video that went really viral and soon got overplayed.

Oh I'm sure Psy didn't mean for it to become successful overseas, and I understand it's intent was supposed to be comical, and I don't have anything against Psy…I just mean, since most of the youtube views of that video are from the U.S. it's unfortunate because most non Asian Americans still don't know much about Asian culture and it's people other than the stereotypical ones (which is mostly negative). There really isn't a recognizable asian that most non Asian Americans are familiar with here in the states other than Bruce Lee, who's been dead, and Jackie Chan who's retiring. And what's strange is that, there seems to be more popularity with unflattering, stereotypical, caricatures of asians like Ken Jeong, William Hung, and just about every movie with Rob Schneider.

And one could argue there are asian actors like Lucy Liu and John Cho in big budget films, and indie films like Harold and Kumar have become successful, but those movies weren't made just because of the asian actors, they were made for other reasons.

Asians aren't really taken that seriously here in the U.S, they're marginalized. Even Jeremy Lin was ignored by colleges for basketball even though he was a star player in his own high school and finally being accepted in the NBA after having to gone to his safety school Harvard lol. And you're absolutely right, Gangnam Style is overly played. :)
