I Have grown up with and still love Stephen King, Anne Rice, and Tolkien. They are classics in my book. Along with Grimm's Fairy tales, Poe, and older classics like Picture of Dorian Grey, Dracula, Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hide, and historical non-fiction mysteries such as Jack the Ripper... yes I am a bit dark. ANd I love to read!

But on the other side, I've recently become fond of Kamikaze Girls. lol

Eragon!
(Inheritance cycle)

I not only love dragons(and blue dragons, nontheless!) and fantasy stories of being close to them, but I also love that there is a character with my name in it, and she has a cat that reminds me of my old half-siamese cat, that basically symbolizes a were-cat in that she talks..............like, a lot...XD..I mean, she had stories to tell to fast to say it----and than she'd lose her voice a bit as it crackled...so I can see us being this odd strange pair.

Asassin's Apprentice is good.

Anything so far by Robin Hobbs. Great storytelling and script, it really makes what otherwise feels like mundane daily life into something interesting....you want to know more about their lives and how the characters met.

the adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

I am late in this series, despite knowing of the character(who I thought was real) but I've really loved the films and BBC tv series, and now I read the books.

Phinn wrote: Books! I love em!

I believe there are a few other bookworms on the site too.

So I thought I'd start a thread where you can share your favourite books and authors or let us know about the last book you read.

OK I'll start...

One of my favourite writers is Haruki Murakami.
I fell in love with his writing after reading his novel Norwegian Wood and I have been working my way through everything he's ever written. I even follow him on twitter!

I'd recommend all of his books. But if you want to give him a go I'd start with Norwegian Wood a wonderful story of love, sex and loss.

I just finished Norwegian Wood last week!
I cried so hard reading this book, I got really attached to the characters.
What a beautiful story!
Any other recommendations from Haruki Murakami?
