A very technical book. Slightly preachy. Found it quite tough. I don't think it's suitable for the layperson.

Just finished reading "Oscar and the lady in pink" by Eric Emmanuel Schmitt.

It's a story about boy Oscar who is ill and no one, especially not his parents, will tell him what he already knows, that he is actually dying and has only about two weeks to live. Mamie-Rose, one of the 'ladies in pink' who was previously a wrestler and now visits patients, makes friends with him.
She suggests that he play a game and pretend that each of the following twelve days is a decade of his imagined future. Each passing day Oscar writes a letter to God (in whom he claims he does not really belive) summarising the past ten years of his life.

"So God, on the occasion of this first letter I've shown you a little of what my life in the hospital is like here, where they now see me as an obstacle to medicine, and I'd like to ask you for clarification on one point: Am I going to get better? Just answer yes or no. It's not very complicated. Yes or no. All you have to do is cross out the wrong answer. More tomorrow, kisses. P.S. I don't have your address: what do I do"

I am not gonna say much about it cuz I am still processing it Its charming, very funny and heartbreaking at the same time, so inspirational and somehow uplifting. Great lesson of how to cherish every moment of our life.
..and it takes only few hours to read.
