Yes!!! It's such an amazing book, and I adore Carl Sagan.

After reading "Awakenings" by Oliver Sacks, I wanted to find out more about the sleeping sickness (encephalitis lethargica). Unfortunately, I think that the author could have written a novel on this topic, but decided to write a "non-fiction" book instead. The "fiction" still overwhelmes the "non" at times. The rich descriptions of irrelevant contextual details annoyed me, even though they were beautifully written
All in all: too much literature that left me wanting more facts

Reading the series featuring the Rosie Project and the Rosie Effect. It's a comedy about a socially inept professor who woos a woman to marry (first book), and struggles with her through pregnancy (second book).

And for books on politic, I've read Gavan McCormack's Client State: Japan in the American Embrace, which is about political history of modern Japan. It's very good book - reading it along with Kenneth Pyle's Japan Rising: The Resurgence of Japanese Power and Purpose(which I read three years ago) will be very helpful.
Another book on politic that I read this year is Lee Feigon's Mao: A Reinterpretation, which provide alternative to both pro-Mao and anti-Mao propaganda.
Beside books on politic, I read a philosophy book for the first time in 10 years - and a philosophy book I've (re)read this year was Friedrich Nietzsche's Twilight of the Idols. It brought lots of memories.
One book that I re-read this year since I first read 10 years ago, is Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa's La Bohème, which is libretto for Giacomo Puccini's opera under the same title. And I have to admit that I've felt something from that libretto that I wasn't able to feel 10 years ago - ethos of struggling lives of artists and a philosopher, going through poverty and capitalism in the mid-19th Century Europe, This libretto also made me seriously reconsidered and develop new appreciation for Puccini's opera under the same title.

Started with Broken Monsters afterwards.

I'm usually not too much into criminal/horror novels, but these two managed to keep me quite glued to the book ^^
