It takes work to not be shallow, it takes alot of effort and alot of reminders that not everyone is going to line up with what you think is okay in your life. Having said that - It can be doable.
Just going to shed a little light onto my situation. I am one of those people who are judged constantly. Nothing ever seems to be good enough, I don't look beautiful enough, not thin enough - My personality leaves little to be desired etc etc. People always say your 24 and you've never had a boyfreind. How can i when i am constantly slammed by the above?
But it has taught me some things - be kind , be lovely. We are always going to be inclined to appreciate something that looks more appealing to us. That's just basic psychology, but as long as your aware of your shortcomings and you make a concious effort to always be kind, polite and lovely - I dare say your a step ahead of many people.
This is your virtue.
There's negative people around you and yet you are bright as a coin. If only these were traits one could easily obtain.

This is just what I was looking for. You hit it right on the nail. I am not making excuses, but this is why I feel like I should criticize everyone. If they criticize me until they leave to fend for myself, why shouldn't I do the same for them? An eye for an eye, and tooth for a tooth, is this not what we have been taught? At least, I have.
Sometimes being kind takes to much effort for people that have irritated me so.

Some people are just too self conscious or stubborn to admit they are.

You are lovely ^.^ - But your absolutely right -
It takes alot of effort, especially for people who cuss at you and tell your, that aren't beauitful and stuff, Ie. Last night i went to bed crying because i don't understand how you can be so patient and kind towards people and still be treated awfully. I guess it's not meant to be understood. But i completely agree with that logic as well.
There are many times when i feel like tearing people down the way they tear me down day after day, but i try to remind myself - that i feel awful when it's done to me, and try not to do it to them, even if i am upset. But yeh.
It takes work - I personally think your amazing for realizing being shallow is a massive issue - and that your speaking up about it - that shows your inteligent and strong - those are fantastic attributes to have prettyful!
