I cannot imagine travelling across the world just to meet up with people I hardly know and unsure if they are going to be there. I only really talk to one person here and no idea if I would ever actually meet her since it's platonic.

Do you all even know each other at a familiar personal level, or just a bunch of awkward strangers with one of you bringing a box of condoms to your shindig which already appears to be more likely to be a sausage fest?
