In places like Toronto, it's common af in the university environment to be seeing Asian men and women in interracial relationships. The trick is going into the right programs, tech programs remains a sausage fest. I've seen shit tons of power couples in the Finance, HR, Nutrition, and Psychology programs, including several friends. I have a friend who graduated from psychology and her Asian BF gave up his job as VFX editorial supervisor for Stranger Things just to be with my friend when she needed to move back to Norway. They're partners who both have mutual goals, values education, got some sprinkle of old fashioned family values but are socially liberal, and actually can make money together to go on trips.

People tend to group together with others that shares their mindset and values though. You want a free spirited, artsy soul? You might find a few. You want someone who grew up in an environment who still values education and work ethics, you'll find that too. Might not even be an SEA partner that you find, but your vibe attracts who you find. Certain ethnicity groups might be holding onto certain vibes that other people are looking for.

No need to be too salty about other people's reasonings. It's their vibe. They have theirs, and we each have ours.
