You're not missing out too much right now. I haven't tried gym battle yet, because that requires level 5, but catching them in the wild is pretty repetitive after a while. There is no wild batter yet. This game has a lot of potentials, but a lot of updates will be needed before it becomes very fun.

I play Ingress; Pokemon GO definitely has potential. It's still pretty buggy and definitely needs updates. Hopefully it will be as stable as Ingress.

On another note, I hope to find a suit case filled with cash in a bush or at a bank of a river while playing these games.....
