Does Saying "hi" matter?

I was told I was rude for not offering a salutation when the email I received was a question about me. So, if anyone wants to message me make sure it's in MLA or AP format, thanks.

Jokes aside it's better to just go straight into a conversation. I don't need a "Hi, how are you?" as I much prefer something like "Last night I was looking through members on here and you caught my attention, but I didn't message you right away because I felt you won't reply. After thinking about it, I told myself I'll send him a message. I want to know more about you, so even if you don't, I'll feel better knowing I tried. So, Mr. Man.. Lets get to learning about each other? I'm Delina. *curtsey* "

I'd be more inclined to respond to something like that because she put herself out there by being true to herself.

I think it matters in the workplace...Nothing worse than when people ask you to do something without a 'Hi' or 'Kind Regards' at the end. The worst are when they start with your name without precursory 'Hi' , try boss you around, and end the email with nothing but the first letter of their name.

Immediate thought...you're not Jeff Bezos...get over yourself. Even if you are...be polite.

I guess same thing applies to dating...I'll admit I'm very lazy/corny sometimes and just say 'Hi gorgeous'. But I suppose with men taking the initiative and women trawling through a million and one messages per day, as a guy, you have to be a bit of a circus 🤡 to get a look in.
