well both v-ball and b-ball is a tall person's sport. it does give you an advantage but there is also a place for smaller guys.....
height is good but speed and athleticism is poisonous!~~~
for v-ball you have a libero who is normally a small or smallish guy at the back who is just a defensive specialist...
for basketball point guard is the smallest guy normally but in the NBA even PG are very tall ( but i don't think NBA is normal basketball it is more of a crazy entertainment show for crazy athletes )

Besides I've met many couples where the girl is slightly taller than the guy and they're all very happy together.
