well if there is, they can still call it friendship, but it'll be hard tho and if one of them starts to feel more than that, that itself might be the thing that breaks the friendship.

I think guys and girls can be friends. I have loads of just friendships with guys. It's similar to the relationship between siblings. I think that sometimes, there is a natural feeling between a man and a women to be together. But I think in those cases why not be in a relationship? (Unless somethings stopping you?) Personally though that has never happened to me and any guy friend of mine. So i don't see why not.
