excellent link. man this is the kind of stuff that the internet enables.. and this is wht they don't want us to have access to anymore.
REMEMBER BEFORE GOOGLE WHEN YOU ACTUALLY HAD TO WONDER ABOUT THINGS? YEAH THAT'S GONNA HAPPEN A LOT MORE IF THIS ALL GOES DOWN.
so if you like knowing things and learning things without even having to get off the toilet, please spread awareness and do whatever you can to oppose these bills.
also jnicole i haven't seen the ones on google i'm lookin for it right now actually. i would sign change.org's if they didn't force me to give them my address to sign it.

We'd be just like the former Soviet Union or Communist China right now. Sad state of affairs.

true story. we'll all remember the glorious days of learning. and one day we'll tell our children that we're actually older than the internet, and they don't know what they missed out on. and the fact that we're older than the net will make them sh*t bricks. but then because there's no information they wouldn't know how old the internet was. or how to sh*t bricks. what a sad world it will be.

Dominic wrote: I don't see how SOPA can be enforceable. It's meant as a symbolic gesture more than anything else, in my opinion. As far as I'm concerned, the internet is public property and its size is so vast that it would take enormous manpower, cost, and resources to manage. It might grab headlines in the short-term, but I think down the road, people will always find ways to circumvent the system, or some smart entrepreneur develops a new form of streaming that's free and 100% legal, rendering the law pointless. iTunes did exactly that with the music industry, at a time when Napster, Kazaa, and file-sharing were gaining momentum. I think people are losing context here, they're freaking out like it's the end of the internet, but it's very unlikely that anything substantial is going to happen with this law, if it even gets passed.
It will enable the gov't to block certain addresses (URLs, IPs) with no more effort than a phone call or e-mail to them. I haven't looked into the techy side of it, but I'm going to assume it's going to limit the IP addresses that ICANN can forward to those of us in the US.
It would be fairly easy to enforce. Think of it as blocking some IPs on your router at home.
