I just started reading this book - South Korean economist Yang Woo-jin's "Re-reading the Modern History of Korea."

when you reading things like that in English, does it sound any different to the original one? I know English doesn't fully cover ours at some point.

Obviously they are not going to be able to translate the full sentiment fully. And some words are extremely difficult(or even impossible) to be translated into English.(Usually in this case, I've seen American authors making greater efforts to explain it fully so his/her English readers can understand things that are uniquely Korean) But overall, I've been more satisfied with American work. American scholars does much better job translating Korean to English than Koreans do with translating English to Korean.
