Ma no Kakera, a series of short standalone horror stories, it was ok, but I just wasn't in the mood for horror

I just finished Uprooted by Naomi Novik.

It was a very enjoyable story. Our heroine lives in a town on the edge of a malevolent forest ("The Wood") that has been known to corrupt people and animals and is trying to creep farther and farther into society. Every ten years, the lord of her area ("The Dragon" - a wizard appointed to protect them from The Wood) takes one girl from a village to live with him for 10 years (speculation and rumors abound as to why he does this). In the heroine's town, they always assumed her best friend would be taken--she was beautiful and talented. Instead, the main character is chosen for her own budding competency in magic.

What follows is a story about the wonder and power of folk lore, as the dragon tries to train his new apprentice and gets increasingly frustrated that she cannot grasp the stringent laws of his magic, but comes to master a kind of magic that only the mythical Baba Yaga was said to possess.

It's a very fun, uplifting story, with some dark edges and deaths along the way.

Ugly love by collen hoover
It was a very interesting way on showing the ugly side of love and getting the courage to allow love back into (in this case the protagonist) life

Pajama na Kanojo
A bait and switch manga that started off with something then halfway in the author decides to change the plot completely and water it down to a pointless cliche love triangle.
