Agatha Christie The Unexpected Guest

Good luck reading King's stuff, I don't like scary at all. Dean Koontz is another good scary writer, I used to read both Authors in high school, but now I am a chicken don't know how I did.

Mistborn: The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson. I've had many people recommend it to me and now I see why. It's a great fantasy story.

Top book of 2016 for me!

I finished "Six of Crows" not too long ago. Although the details vary, it has a Mistborn quality to it (to me, two of the main characters are almost identical to Vin and Kelsier.)

Six of Crows features a group of 16-17 year olds with varying "criminal" competencies who are recruited by an upstanding member of their government to pull off an impossible heist. The narration jumps around from each person in the group, so you're constantly getting a different perspective and getting into everyone's mind -- it endears you to all of the characters pretty well, but can be annoying when you want to focus more on your favorite characters. It's fast paced, resolutions are interesting, there's always another trick up someone's sleeve. It's an all-around fun novel with some surprising depths, and it gets darker than I thought it would.

Of course, it also has all the trappings of YA romance. There are six characters. Guess how many couples there are? And of course, it's a little unrealistic that a group of 17 year olds are as wise, accomplished, and worldly as they're portrayed, but that's something only old people complain about, so I won't go there. Besides, in a world of magic, competent 17 year olds are the least uncanny thing.

I recommend it and am eagerly waiting for Crooked Kingdom, the sequel, to pop up in my mailbox.

Probably some James Patterson book lol. Currently reading the revised edition of The Intelligent Investor. Though the motivation isn't really there.

The Fireman by Joe Hill. Incredibly lame and boring. Lack of common sense main character, too much foreshadowing that spoils the plot that ruins the surprise that the author was trying to make.

Thanks for the recommendation Thesaurus! I'll put that in my reading list.

Another series in my list that is being constantly recommended to me is the Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss. I'm not sure if you are a Game of Thrones fan, but GRR Martin was apparently a fan of Kingkiller and called Rothfuss a "bloody guy".
