Just started DIRTBIKES DRONES AND OTHER WAYS TO FLY by Conrad Wesselhoeft. I haven't read a book in a long time. Every once and a while I'll listen to an audio book while I'm in my workshop. Last book I actually attempted to read was A MILLION LITTLE PIECES which I hated and just could not finish.

I just finished Prince of Thorns and King of Thorns, which lead me to Emperor of Thorns, the last book in the Broken Empire trilogy.

It's pretty damn amazing. Mark Lawrence knows how to tell a story that is ruthless, absurd, adventurous, thrilling, and introspective all at the same time. He has some of the best phrases and comparisons I've seen in a book in a long time, and is really quotable. On top of that, he's crafted a true anti-hero, and I respect that. Jorg has done some deplorable things over the course of the novel, has associated himself with criminals and cut throats whose only goals are raping and pillaging, and he has still become a hugely sympathetic narrator. You can see his growth over the course of the novel, and it's awesome.

Bit of a spoiler alert:

The books are set in a feudal society during "The Hundred War" with 100 fragmented kingdoms all vying to be voted Emperor. It leads you to believe it's set in some medieval fantasy world, but it's actually set thousands of years into our future after a nuclear apocalypse. I love seeing our past crafted as mythology and our technologies are ancient relics to them. There's also a supernatural element introduced by their ancestors fiddling with the boundary between life/death thought/reality, and altogether Lawrence created a rich world to become immersed in.

I recommend it to anyone who likes revenge stories, gory stories, brutal fights, underhanded victories, and cheering on the bad guys every now and then.

Oh man... you should read this epic tale by Mr. Hosseini...
He is such a good story teller. And if you ever feel life is not treating you fair, and you are losing hope.. READ THIS BOOK!
You wont regret it.
