I just finished "Did You Ever Have a Family?" by Bill Clegg. It's heart-breaking and soul-restoring at the same time. There's something about sharing the turbulence after loss with fictional characters that is kind of cathartic. I love the way Clegg told the story.

It's about the aftermath of a house fire that takes the lives of one woman's boyfriend, daughter, ex-husband, and her daughter's fiance--all the people she had in the whole world. The novel switches from points of view between everyone who was effected, even remotely, by these losses, and explores loneliness, forgiveness, compassion, and the weight of regret in all our relationships. It's a beautiful story.

I recommend it!

The Legend of the Holy Drinker (German: Die Legende vom heiligen Trinker) a 1939 novel by the Austrian writer Joseph Roth.

It tells a story about an alcohol addict, Andreas, who wants to return money he has borrowed, but fails because he spends all of his money on alcohol.

I have just finished reading "Our Lady of Paris" by Victor Hugo, if you have seen the movie "Hunchback of Notre Dame", this is the book from which the film was inspired; Of course, for purposes suitable for the public. I recommend, seriously!
I know they will like it, have the realism about religion, how high hierarchies can dominate, and set aside the minority, in that case "Gypsies." you have the last word. If you have read it, did you like it?
