I read the book and found it decent but less than what I expected. I felt like it took a highly political stance when much of the earlier syrian protests were really centered on ecological catastrophes leading to farming disasters. I also felt he didnt do an in depth analysis of the militarization of rebel forces as it was a huge issue in how Assad used it to his strategic advantage.Korean_Romeo wrote: I just started reading this book.

Yeah. That book was bit disappointing. Some of my friends told me this book is actually better. I haven't read it yet, but I definitely will sometime this year.

I'm reading this book now because I want to check this book out(even though I have read the children's version in Korean when I was little) before getting this book for my niece on her birthday next month.

found these at the library today:
- Leadership, by Brian Tracy. he's pretty cool.
- Know Yourself, Forget Yourself, by Marc Lesser.
- How to Avoid Marrying a Jerk, by John Van Epp, Ph.D. even though the title is a bit coarse, the book lists a lot of good info on finding out about a person's character, how their differences complement or collide with another person, and much more. hopefully, it will be a good read.

Echo by Pam Munoz Ryan
It was beautiful. I recommend it to anyone from a 5th grader to a WWII veteran. There's a universal relevance to the stories in Echo, and the writing is simple, but the narrative is strong. The story is clear and purposeful the whole way through.
It's about a mystical harmonica that travels from a German boy on the eve of Hitler's rise to power, to an orphaned child in New England who will do anything to protect his younger brother, all the way to California to help a young girl find her voice and deal with the absence of her brother, newly enlisted into the army. It's a story about outcasts and throwaways, but ultimately it's about acceptance, bravery, and love. And music as a vehicle for all of those things.
I really loved it <3
