It's probably easy to write into words what you'd like in a person and how you want the relationship to turn into but in actuality, things are different and you might like a completely "un-ideal" person.

Basically, it's the chemistry two people develop in the initial and intermediate stages. Not to be jaded like another poster noted but lovers, however intense the passion may be initially, can and may grow stale and stagnant. The resilient couples are able to work though those tough times of decreased intimacy and interest. That Ms. OP, is probably a mystery to most including myself.

I've been with partners whom I thought were my ideal woman but find out things didn't really match for whatever reason. Until you meet and spend some quality time with a person, you can't possibly know what "ideal" is. Yeah, human relationships are just so complicated.

To answer your topic question, I think chemistry (physically and mentally) in the long-run is the most important. I used to think a good partnership was as simple as two people enjoying the same/similar things.
