Anybody who thinks money can't buy happiness doesn't know where to shop. :]

well this question has a very subjective element to it. your idea of happiness may very well be satisfied by large sum of money so the answer may be yes for you.
or your idea of happiness may include something which cannot be attained by money, in which case money would not equate to happiness.

what makes you happy, my friend? start with that question first. alas, the answer may be more elusive than you think.... good luck!

So, assuming if money or wealth in general does buy happiness. Then, the next thing I would look at will be what is it about money that makes you happy. Perhaps, owning that Maserati that you've been wanting for life or perhaps buying an island in Polynesia or maybe buying an ice-cream for you and your loved ones. Hypothetically speaking, if there's a way for you to get these things without money, will you be happy? If it does, wouldn't that be counted as wanting something external to satisfy your needs/ego and that money is just a currency to get it?

My personal opinion is money is a means to an end. It pays your bills and stuff but if there's excess of it, maybe then I would treat myself with a nice vacation. This is happiness(short term) that money can buy but if there's one thing that will truly make me happy, that would be having a coffee in cafe with your loved ones or just playing with my dog(yes, i'm a dog lover) or I can just sit down and meditate(which is a joy itself). If you're looking at the small price to pay for the coffee, then I would partly agree with you because money is just a standard currency we used to get what we want.

well, again every person's idea of happiness is his/her own.
having money may very well be someone's idea of happiness.
if you barter for goods, it may make you happy and content. but someone else may very well be unhappy with bartering. their happiness is the possession of money. and possess lots of it. for those people, that is the end for them, not the means.

if you question whether that's true happiness, well thats a whole different question altogether...

Money (might, potentiality) can make you happy, if you are smart enought to do it.
Some human can't handle with might. (wisdom)
And if you don't have unrealistic expectations of the environment and yourself. (wisdom)

Why not spending money in wisdom and cleverness :D? it's like an algorithm.

No one is 100% happy, and having money is no guarantee. Money nowadays represents only parties, a shallow and empty life. Maybe you can find a real friend in the middle of it but you'll get corrupted if you get caught by the easy life you live.
Money is a placebo, happiness come when you find yourself satisfied with your choices...

I call BS.

Well... as I said I take it from my own experience... BS for you... reallity for me who have been in the two worlds ;)

I got some money.

big alarm went up when this hot looking slut attached on to me like glue.

after being told she wanted to marry me everyday for 4 months, I started believing it.

then she left me for someone closer with better prospects. (she thought he had earning potential)

lesson. watch out for gold diggers.
