Lololo of course they can. Almost all of my best friends in college were (and still are, as far as I know) men. It comes down to "who do I enjoy spending time with", not anything else. I never had any romantic feeling for any of them, and the same was true of them for me. If we could play video games for several intense and loud hours after class, curse each other from top to bottom and then go driving around the city the next night, it doesn't matter to me what gender they are. I've got mostly female friends right now, but the same thing is absolutely true for them.

Haha, I hear yeah. I have more than 90% female friends. I think cause most of my family members are female. I'm more comfortable with women. Don't really care about romantic feelings when having fun.
